Events in Haworth Village and Brontë Country

The Brontë Parsonage hosts year-round events celebrating the legacy of the Brontë sisters, while the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway provides a nostalgic experience with its themed rides and seasonal activities.

Annual events in Haworth include the incredibly popular 1940s Weekend, the KWVR Beer & Music festival, the Steampunk Weekend, and the Haworth Festival, showcasing arts and culture.

There’s always something happening in and around Haworth village, with plenty of weekly smaller events such as live music, literature talks, and art workshops.

Haworth Festival

Haworth Festival

Haworth Festival is a 10 day event held at the end of July featuring a variety of smaller events across multiple venues in Haworth.

This performing arts festival includes art, comedy, dance, music, poetry, theatre, spoken word, and more. Some events are free, while others require advance tickets.

Guests can enjoy a diverse range of cultural activities in a charming village setting during this rich celebration of the arts.

Haworth Steampunk Weekend

Steampunk Weekend

The Haworth Steampunk Weekend, held from October 11th-13th, 2024, is the UK's biggest steampunk charity event.

Taking place at The School Rooms and Haworth Village Hall, the weekend features burlesque, dancers, singers, music, and traders.

This event raises vital funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. The previous event in May 2024 raised £1,291.33.

So don your best steampunk attire and join in this unique and entertaining fundraiser!

Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Beer & Music Festival

Beer and Music Festival

From October 17th to 20th, the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway becomes a five-mile-long celebration of beer and music.

The main site at Oxenhope features around 90 cask ales, craft beers, ciders, and a wine & gin bar. Ingrow Station and Keighley Station also host brewery bars, live music, and food offerings.

Guests can enjoy performances from 30 groups and solo artists across various genres of music, making it a lively and diverse event for all attendees.

1940s Weekend

Attendees at 1940s Weekend

The village's biggest event, Haworth 1940s Weekend, has been postponed until 2025. Over the years, it has grown into one of the largest 1940s events in the country, attracting hundreds of visitors to Haworth.

Attendees come to dance, drink, enjoy music, and dress in 1940s attire, celebrating the spirit of the era.

This year, the event passed to new organisers, who controversially blamed a 'third party' for the cancellation.

Whatever the real reason behind the cancellation we hope for a well organised event in 2025.

Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Christmas Events

Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Christmas Events

The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway offers three magical Christmas events in December.

"A Christmas Carol" takes you on a journey with Scrooge and Marley, combining theatre with a steam train ride.

"The Festive Flyer" features festive entertainment, reindeer encounters, and a cosy steam train experience.

"The Elf Explorer" provides a theatrical journey with elves, Santa, and festive treats for children and adults alike.

The Brontës’ Web of Childhood

Exhibition at Brontë Parsonage

The 2024 exhibition, The Brontës’ Web of Childhood, explores what life was like for the young Brontës. What inspired them? What did they create? And how did their experiences in childhood impact their later work?

Highlights include sketches based on the imaginary worlds the siblings created together, the minuscule books they ‘published’, and a diary extract from a young Emily.

Admission to the exhibition is free with entry to the Museum.

Former Events

Bronte Vintage Gathering

Bronte Vintage Gathering

The Bronte Vintage Gathering was a beloved event known for its stunt shows, donkey rides, fairground rides, car shows, and more. It seems the event has sadly been cancelled as the organisers have (deservedly) called it a day.

Over the years, the gathering raised a total of £681,832 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

I'm leaving this event here just on the chance that somebody restarts it.

Bear in mind this website is centred around travel, tourism, and leisure activities so submitted events must be relevant to appear on this page.
