About Central Park
Opened in 1921, and located between the iconic cobbled Main Street at the top and Haworth Railway Station at the bottom, this park provides a perfect blend of nature, recreation, and culture.
The park has plenty to offer for both visitors and locals alike. Whether you fancy a game of tennis, bowls, or mini football, the well-maintained sports facilities are ready to use. Families will appreciate the children's play area, and there's always space to enjoy a quiet moment with a stroll through the grounds.
Haworth Central Park has flourished under the care of the Friends of Haworth Park, a dedicated group that has worked to maintain and improve the space. Their efforts have been recognised with the prestigious 'Green Flag International Award'.
One of their proudest achievements is the installation of the bandstand, which took a decade of fundraising to complete. Today, this space also serves as a performing arts venue, bringing music and entertainment to the heart of the village.
In addition, the group is currently working on an exciting new project: the Memory Garden. This enclosed area will offer a serene spot for quiet reflection and will feature a beautiful sculpture by local artist Craig Dyson. Visitors will be able to place padlocks on the sculpture in memory of loved ones, creating a special and personal connection to the park. The Friends have also raised funds for new flower beds, adding even more colour to the top of the park.
For those who enjoy local crafts and produce, the park is also home to the Haworth Artisan Market, held on the third Sunday of every month. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the park, this market hosts over 20 talented and friendly stallholders offering a fantastic selection of high-quality handmade goods. Many stallholders are happy to take custom orders, so if you're looking for something unique, be sure to have a chat with them.
